I get that you’re attempting to paint a literary picture here. But you know stickiness is not a literal but a metaphorical saying for time spent in product. You do understand china also heavily monitors all its citizens and often times uses their data from their super app we chat to enforce certain laws when They don’t like something someone says or if they criticize the Chinese governemt. Not certain what this article is really accomplishing beyond not having a solid point of view. Perhaps a fine example might be homeschooling your kids teaching them to not give into consumerism and peer pressure. You were of technology prior to having children so perhaps it’s unrealistic to expect an entire country change because of your nostalgia. I am not being a jerk. I too have been having existential struggles with tech the blatant lack of ethics our government being paid off by lobbyists. And user experience designers whining about the most benign shit but being too cowardly to really speak up when it matters like the lack of ethics. VC backed Telehealth that are basically just selling prescriptions. Deceptive design. Companion AI bots marketed to teenagers and the list goes on. Except the issue is that nostalgia is a liar. We often idealize our past. To to say the last few years that things haven’t gotten worse they have .
